How did people originally communicate in deaf education?
See also Roland Pfau's explanation of the differences between sign language (NGT) and Sign-supported Dutch (NmG). In general, we speak of a signing system if it contains additions to add clarity to Dutch grammar (like articles or conjugations); NmG broadly covers all forms of Sign-supported Dutch.
